Legendary copywriter Gary Halbert once said that people sort their mail into two piles while standing over the trash can.
Pile A consists of the mail that looks important…
And pile B consists of everything that’s about to find its way into the garbage bin.
I’m reminded of this every single day because my crazy (and lazy) neighbour Gus placed a giant garbage bin next to our community mailbox specifically for junk mail.
Anyhoo…
Last night I went to grab the mail and proceeded to sort through the important stuff when a piece of “junk mail” caught my eye.
It was from NOOM…
…a weight loss, habit formation, and fitness company.
The timing of this brochure was spot on.
It was early enough in the New Year when people are still thinking about that resolution they failed to keep…
But not so early that it was completely dismissed.
I pushed it into pile A with the important stuff…
…dropped everything else in Gus’s lil’ trashbin…
…closed my mailbox…
