I have reached the conclusion that I'll likely be on antidepressants for the rest of my life.

If they shave 10 years off, it's a trade I'll gladly make given the positive impact they have had on my quality of life thus far.

They certainly seem to affect everyone differently.

I've only gone through two separate medications to find one that seems to do the trick.

You also raise an important point about self monitoring.

I've been lucky.

For me, the key has been having someone I completely trust, who knows me better than I know myself, point out when my mood starts to take a dip.

It's far too easy to lose sight of how I feel when additional stressors creep in and overwhelm me.
