How to Beat the Blank Page Blues
Never struggle to write a piece of content again!
I’d rather use a pair of pliers to rip my toenails off one at a time instead of staring at a blank page. I’m convinced it would be less painful.
The only thing worse than facing a blank page is taking a sip of cold coffee.
Yuck!
Yet, as writers, we often find ourselves haunted by strangled thoughts and the inability to write even the simplest of sentences.
Fortunately, I have found a way to combat this nasty enemy of creativity before it raises its ugly head.
Start with the big idea.
Focus on one problem and one solution.
Don’t get lost in the weeds of a million and one different thoughts.
The first thing I do when an idea hits me is write down a headline.
Writing my headline first forces me to refine my idea.
Although it is rarely the final version, it’s always clear and concise enough to keep me on track.
A few questions I ask when writing my headlines:
“Who is my reader?”
“What problem do they face?”
“What solution do they require?”
