How to Get Your First Freelance Copywriting Client

And then your second…

How to get clients is probably the most asked question new freelancers ask.

There are multiple freelance websites out there that you can use (Upwork, Freelancer)

Or you can do what every other freelancer writer who makes decent money does…

Cold email prospects you’d like to work with.

However, your first client…

Do that one for FREE.

Bust your butt to get results and get yourself a glowing testimonial that you can plaster all over social media.

Have some proof that you can do the job.

Then start emailing prospects.

As a freelancer, YOU are your biggest and most important client.

If you can’t sell yourself in an email and get a client on a call to close the sale…

You’re not a really a copywriter yet.

That’s what nobody tells you.

You’re not a copywriter until you persuade someone to give you their money in exchange for your services.

Do good work for that first client and he might start paying you.

As for getting your second…

You can create a Facebook page, write a post, and pay to advertise your services to small businesses with an FB ad.

LinkedIn is another good place to look.

All you really need to tip the scales in your favour is that one piece of proof / testimonial

Don’t bother until you have that.
