We typically sit around our kitchen table with a deck of cards and play a game of hearts.
If you’re not familiar with the game here are the only rules you need to know for the sake of this story.
The goal is to AVOID collecting hearts.
Each heart is considered 1 point.
The Queen of Spades is considered 13 points.
The first person to reach 100 points is crowned the ultimate loser.
Now there is one exception to the rules I’ve just shared with you.
If by some miracle you can collect all 13 hearts AND the Queen of Spades…
Everyone else will get 26 points…
While YOU collect ZERO…
What makes our game particularly mean-spirited is that if you are crowned the “ultimate loser” by reaching 100 points first…
…everyone else will throw their cards at you and you will be stuck with cleaning them all up.
