This morning I poured myself a cup of black coffee, sat in my favourite chair, and opened up Medium.

I had over 30 notifications.

That was dopamine spike number one.

I took a careful sip of coffee as my thumb tapped on the “view stats” button and navigated to the “Partner Program earnings” section.

You see, I have a goal to consistently hit $100 days on Medium.

And I will not stop until I reach it.

The first few days of the month registered a couple of $5 days followed by a few $10 days. It was nice. But this morning, I hit a $15 day.

Thank you very much, dopamine spike number two.

As I hover over my daily stats, it looks like I may finally break 300 views for the first time since returning to Medium after a long break.

Enter, dopamine spike number three.

Cheap Dopamine Holds You Back

Engaging in mindless doom scrolling on places like TikTok and 𝕏 leave you feeling emotionally empty and creatively drained.
