How to Write Anything With Impact
Focus on being clear, not clever.
Most writing is long-winded.
When I pick up a novel it has to grab my interest in the first few pages.
If it doesn’t, I know I’m not going to finish it.
A sales page or emails must do the same.
A few years ago, I read the first Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child called “The Killing Floor.”
I was a fan of the Tom Cruise movies.
And because a new series was launching on Amazon prime, that was based on the first book, I decided to grab a copy and see what all the casting controversy was about.
If you’ve read any Jack Reacher books, you know he’s described as a 6ft5 powerhouse weighing 250 lbs.
His intimidating size is a large part of what makes the character work.
Physically, he’s the exact OPPOSITE of Tom Cruise.
Well, this past week I decided to read the second book in the series called “Die Trying.”
Once again, I was hooked from the very first page.
As I kept reading I noticed how the author’s style is very much like that of a copywriter.
