Manoj,
Your opinion is a common one.
If I woke up tomorrow and my Medium account had vanished it would be no different than if my WordPress site was hacked or had suffered a DNS attack.
That’s why my main focus is growing my newsletter and owning my audience outright.
WordPress might power 43% of websites on the internet, but what percentage of those websites are owned by writer’s who have a single purpose of growing a newsletter audience?
Most WordPress sites are corporate business cards, e-commerce solutions, or affiliate marketing machines for savvy marketers playing a long term SEO game.
If you’re a good old fashioned blogger, WordPress is an unnecessary, cumbersome, and inefficient step in your strategy.
I’ll challenge anyone who disagrees with me to start a WordPress website from scratch against my atomic newsletter strategy.
Let’s see who has a bigger audience and a fatter bank account in 6 months.
If I were you, I wouldn’t dare take that bet.
