Most Writers are Dumb
Don’t make this stupid mistake.
You think you’re smart.
And maybe you are.
You’ve got the grades to prove it.
Maybe you even have a piece of paper hung on your wall, from a prestigious University, to show everyone how smart you are.
I’m sorry to tell you:
Being smart is the dumbest mistake a writer can make.
Write Like a Dummy!

Unless you’re writing academic research papers for an audience of biomechanical engineers, make your content readable.
In fact, I’d argue that even if you ARE writing to an audience of biomechanical engineers, you should write so a simpleton like me could understand it.
Whenever you put pen to paper — or fingers to keyboard — you should ask yourself the following question:
How would I explain this subject to a 12-year-old?
Most people read at a 7th-grade level.
Smart writers dumb it down and write below that.
