The Online Side Hustle Nobody Ever Talks About
Discipline, patience, and skill are required.
I’ve been an avid poker player for almost 20 years.
Thanks to the NHL lockout, the popularity of texas hold ’em exploded during the 2012/2013 season when sports networks needed to fill air time.
Most of my friends started playing also, and home games became a weekly thing. While most new poker players acted on instinct and played for fun, I studied the game with a passion.
I read countless strategy books on the game, immersed myself in game theory, and even studied body language so that I could spot “tells” during my games.
During one of my first trips to the casino, I sat down with a $200 buy-in and ended up walking away with nearly $1000 at the end of the night.
Eventually, I’d start to show up at 6 am when most players had been at the table all night, and crush them in a few hours with a combination of mental clarity and solid strategy.
Since then, online poker has become just one of my side-hustles that provides a steady source of income.
It has paid for vacations, expensive dinners, and even my wife’s engagement ring.
