This is a good question.

I would define it this way:

Newsletter: provides valuable and actionable information to readers without overtly selling anything.

Email marketing: provides infotainment through persuasive writing with the explicit purpose of generating sales.

I wrote an article a while back explaining a few differences I noticed between sending both. Higher open rates and click through rates are definitely a feature of newsletters.

Now— having said all that — you write fantastic emails. If that’s what works for you, I wouldn’t stop. Even if you tell people you made me cry one time 😂
